SustainHealth is seeking an exceptional Medical Scientist for a permanent full-time or part-time role in Norfolk Island. A fixed term role of 3 or 6 months is also on offer. Located 1,200 km east of Byron Bay, this Australian Territory provides a welcoming and inclusive community, a sub-tropical climate, and regular flight access to Brisbane and Sydney. The Role Perform, verify, and validate diagnostic pathology tests in according to approved procedures and standards Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration, and information systems to ensure quality and reliability Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control programs aligned with NATA/ISO 15189 requirements Participate in the on-call roster and ensure timely response to urgent pathology needs Collaborate with NIHRACS and other clinicians and Pathology Queensland to support test selection, result interpretation, and clinical consultation Contribute to continual improvement, safety, and quality initiatives across the Pathology Department Support governance, data integrity, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with NIHRACS policies and national standards Demonstrate a commitment to uphold the NIHRACS core values of teamwork, excellence, integrity, and respect in all aspects of our work Provide leadership and oversight of the laboratory team (for the Full-Time Medical Scientist role) About You Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent qualification Multidisciplinary pathology laboratory experience including specimen collection, haematology, chemistry, microbiology, and transfusion Experience implementing and managing quality control systems and operation of laboratory equipment Ability to work independently within a small team and exercise professional judgment Leadership experience, highly regarded Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Current C Class driver’s licence Vaccinations in accordance with Class A requirements Employment screening checks (National Criminal Record Check / Aged Care check) Why join SustainHealth?
